Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Friday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Etheldean Yanero presiding. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated following the service.

Brenda Kathleen “Patsy” Van Horn, 67, of Anmoore, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in Clarksburg, on March 20, 1951, a daughter of the late William August and Phyllis Deison Schmitz.

 

Patsy was married on August 12, 1970, to her husband James William Van Horn, who resides at their home in Anmoore.

 

Also surviving are one son, James Michael Van Horn and wife Beth of Gillette, WY; two daughters, Jennifer Marie Gray and husband Tim of Lost Creek and Jessica Mae Roane and husband Darrell of Flatwoods, KY; six grandchildren, T.J., Kirstin, Lincoln, Landon, Kaydance, and Zander; one sister Christine Stanton of Anmoore; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Garrett.

 

Patsy was a graduate of Victory High School and retired from the Harrison County Board of Education after 20 years of service as a cook.

 

She was a member of the Anmoore United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a lay speaker. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Harrison County Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed ceramic classes. Patsy loved traveling and camping and especially enjoyed the fall colors. She fulfilled her dream of riding in a Mustang Convertible on Rt. 66.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Humane Society, 2450 Saltwell Rd, Shinnston, WV 26431, or to the Clarksburg Mission, 312 North 4th Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
