Brenda Louise Wamsley, 83, of Clarksburg, WV died peacefully at the Bridgeport Healthcare Center, Bridgeport, WV on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.  Brenda was born in Mill Creek, WV on September 18, 1941, the oldest daughter of the late Henry Gene and Hazel Mae (Taylor) Harris.  Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, John W. Wamsley Sr., who passed away on March 20, 2020 and her brother Denver Ray Harris and his wife Linda.

Brenda is survived by five siblings, Willard G. Harris and wife Kathern of Lexington, NC, Gary G. Harris and wife Kathy of Mill Creek, Mary Jo Mackey of Elkins, James (Jimmy) D. Harris and wife Janet of Belington, and Ellen Kay Shields and husband Jim of Clarksburg.

In addition to her siblings, Brenda is survived by two children, Lisa K. Fidler and husband Eric of Chambersburg, PA and John W. Wamsley Jr. and wife Vicky (McCune) of Huttonsville.  Brenda is survived by five grandchildren, Zachary D. Bolyard, Fort Wayne, IN, John W. Wamsley III and wife Lindsey, Fairmont, Olivia D. Fidler, Morgantown, Isabella N. Fidler, Philadelphia, PA, and Craig McCune and Kayla (Wamsley) of Elkins.  Brenda is survived by eight great grandchildren, Zachary Thomas Bolyard Jr., Kobain Lee Bolyard, Kasen Don Bolyard, Iris Jayde Hurt, Harley Bo Bolyard, William Gray Wamsley, Brettlee Zane McCune and Autumn Paige McCune.  Brenda is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family, whom she loved and loved her in return.

Brenda was an avid homemaker, cook, baker, volunteer and babysitter in the local Summit Park Community. Brenda often shared her homemade baked goods, canned goods and food from her kitchen with her neighbors, friends and family members.  She loved to participate in the Summit Park Volunteer Fire Department events, the Homecoming picnics and enjoyed social gatherings of family and friends.  Her door was always open, and she was always willing to feed the hungry.

Brenda was a faithful Christian and church attender and called Christian Assembly in Nutter Fort her home church.  Brenda loved to warmly welcome new people and those she already knew to church when she was there.  Whether it was the waitress in the restaurant, the receptionist, the nurse in the doctor’s office, the wrong caller on the telephone, Brenda never knew a stranger.  She was kind, loving, caring and thoughtful to every person she met. She was a giver and never expected anything in return.

Brenda thoroughly enjoyed her short time in the assisted living facility and participated in all the activities when she was physically able. She even had a shirt that said “Bingo Queen”. The residents, caregivers and staff all loved her, and she loved them. Brenda’s family is especially thankful for her very special roommate, Connie Holley, for being such a sweet blessing. Brenda’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
