Family and Friends may call to the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00pm where funeral services will be held at 12:00pm with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Carl Davis Martin, 90, of Stonewood, WV passed away at the United Hospital Center on Sunday, January 5, 2019.

 

He was born on July 19, 1929 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Willis E. and Hazel Freeman Martin.

 

On May 28, 1949, Carl married his wife L. Irene Byers Martin, who preceded him in death on April 9, 2013.

 

Carl is survived by two sons, Franklin A. Martin and wife Sharon of Upland, IN, and David W. Martin and wife Brenda of Stonewood; one daughter, Melody E. Martin of Stonewood; five grandchildren, Nathan Martin, Michael Martin and wife Wendy, Holly Estes and husband John, Heather Williams and husband John, and Sabrina Loudin and husband Eric; six great-grandchildren, Chad Williams, Trevor Martin, Hope Vernon, Kaylee Estes, Connor Estes, and Carson Estes; one brother, C. Donald Martin of Quiet Dell; two sisters, Willa Jean Green of Stonewood, and Nina Rhodes and husband Tom of Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Carl was preceded in death by four siblings, Eva Andrick, William Martin, Alberta Green and Russel Martin.

 

Mr. Martin was a 1947 graduate of R.W. High School. He was a member of the Congregational Missionary Church in Stonewood, formerly worked on race cars and was a plumber for Stuart McMunn with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 152 of Morgantown.
