On November 4, 2019 a house fire claimed the life of Carl Edward “Sonny” McIntire.

He was born in Akron, OH on April 23, 1946, a son of the late Carl A. and Virgie Violet Cook McIntire.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Jane “Janie” Mick McIntire, whom he married in February, 1968; three children, Stephen Edward McIntire of Stonewood, Jeffery Paul McIntire of Stonewood, and Amy-Jo Young and her husband Chris of Philippi; nine grandchildren, Riley Young, Gavin Young, Hannah Young, Cody Young, Tori Young, Lucas McIntire, Chaz McIntire, Katlyn McIntire and Samantha McIntire; and one brother, Raymond Thomas McIntire and his wife Debbie of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Heaven Ranae McIntire and Emily McIntire; two brothers, Robert Jacob McIntire and Donald Louis McIntire; and one sister, Nancy Marie (McIntire) Miller.

Mr. McIntire was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War and having received two Purple Heart medals. He was formerly a construction Laborer with Stewart McMunn and Lang Brothers.

Mr. McIntire was a lifetime member of Meuse Argonne Post No. 573 VFW and Chapter No. 13 Disabled American Veterans. Before becoming ill, Sonny enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his dog “Ashley Dawn”, the little dog that came to him out of nowhere when he was diagnosed with cancer. Ashley perished with her dad and her best dog friend, “Stewie”. Now all three are in heaven together.

Sonny will be greatly missed by all his friends at the F.O.P.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. McIntire was cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
