After a brief illness, Charles (Bud) Albert Bias, 83, passed peacefully from this world on Monday, January 8, 2024. During his final hours he was surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff at UHC.

Bud was born on September 24, 1940, in Clarksburg, WV to Roger Bias and Annie Folio Bias. He graduated from WI High School in 1958 where he played football. Early on he worked for Wilson’s Bread Company and went on to work for the ABC Commission and retired with 30 years’ service.

Upon retirement he went to work at the USPS and retired there with 15 years’ service. Bud was especially close to his cousin, Richard (Dick) Bias, whom he enjoyed visiting in Ritchie County. The two always found something to tinker with on the farm. He was also lifelong friends with David Patsy, whom he grew up with and was close to until the day he died.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patty Anne Bias, and great grandson Benjamin (Benny) Richard Vincent.

He is survived by one son, Bryan Wilson and wife Esther Wilson of Mount Clare; one daughter, Kimberly Gladwell and husband Glacus “Jake” of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Stacy Groves and husband Joshua of Clarksburg, Kayla Vincent and husband Tyler of Clarksburg; four step-grandchildren, Justin Gladwell of Florida, and Brittany Bourgeois and husband Tyler of Florida, Jada Gorbey of Clarksburg, and Devin Gorbey of Clarksburg; seven great grandchildren, Isabella, Abigail, Poppy, and Daphne Vincent, Bowen and Caelum Groves, and Savana Bourgeois.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of the United Hospital Center ICU for the care they provided to Bud during his final days.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Bias will be cremated.
