Christina Marie “Tina” Melko, 35 years old, daughter of Joseph and Mary Melko, was welcomed into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 with her parents at her side at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport WV.

She was born March 29th, 1982 at United Hospital Center and lived for her 35 years in Bridgeport, except for four years spent earning a degree at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. After graduation in June, 2005, Christina returned to spend 12 years as a teacher in Taylor and Harrison County Schools. Christina had a kind and loving heart for everyone, especially for the elderly and for her “special” students, those who most needed her gift for responding to challenge. Christina is a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport where she was baptized and confirmed and served as Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Mary Melko of Bridgeport and one sister, Theresa Ann Metzger, who resides in Echterdingen, Germany with her husband, Brandon and their three children, Anneliese, Guenter and Katharine Sophie. Christina is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews in the Yarman, Metzger and Melko families. Tina was blessed with many close friends with whom she spent many hours at the fire pit enjoying the company of each other.

Tina began volunteering with her mom for the Harrison County Special Olympic Ski Program when she was 13 years old.  She volunteered for 22 years and during that time she was the downhill coach and eventually became Head of Delegation for Harrison County WV Special Olympics Winter Games.  She was dedicated to helping many special athletes learn to ski.  She gave so much of her time to this program and her athletes loved her dearly.
