Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Sherman Goodwin presiding.

 

Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Cornelius Joe “Whitey” Mihaliak, 86, of Stonewood, WV, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the United Hospital Center.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on November 13, 1934, a son of the late Cornelius and Mary Kattles Michaliak.

 

He was married on July 5, 1955, to his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jean Griffith Mihaliak, who resides at their home in Stonewood.

 

Also surviving, are two sons, Daniel Mihaliak and wife Bing of Stonewood, David Allen Mihaliak of Stonewood and one daughter, Debbie Malfregeot and husband Tom of Clarksburg.  He was grandfather to six grandchildren, Jennilyn Mihaliak, D.J. Mihaliak, Stefan Mihaliak, Jonathan Tracy, Stacie Fortineax, Kayla Lynch; and six great-grandchildren, Kydalyn Haines, Maya Jane MIhaliak, Lily California Mihaliak, Rosie Fortneax, Willow Fortneax, and Addison Knotts.  He is also survived by his brother, David Mihaliak of Clarksburg.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Mihaliak and Robert Mihaliak.

 

He was a graduate of Victory High School and was Vice President of the James and Law Company.

 

Mr. Mihaliak was a member of the Congregational Missionary Church in Stonewood.  He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, and will be missed by his faithful companion Jake.
