Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, Juyly 27, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Daniel Carter Ayers, 71, of Stonewood, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Grafton, WV on November 14, 1947 a son of the late James and Helen Baker Ayers.

 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Broadstone Ayers, whom he married November 23, 1974; two sons, Daniel Ayers, II and his wife Dorothy of Stonewood, and James Ayers and his wife Christina of Stonewood; seven grandchildren, Debra Ayers, Kimberly Gaston and her husband Robbie, Rebecca Ayers and her companion Tyler, KayLynne Ayres, Gabriel Ayers, Rayna Ayers and Isabella Ayers; one great granddaughter, Allison Gaston; two brothers, Jerry Ayers of Bridgeport, and Thomas Ayers and his wife Kathy of California; four sisters, Nancy Wiseman and her husband Paul of West Milford, Tamma Porter of West Milford, Tonya Labenne of Spelter, and Hope Hill and her husband Brad of Lumberport; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Lyle Ayers; and one sister, Trena Hardy.

 

Mr. Ayers was a United States Marines Veteran having served during the Vietnam War and was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved watching NCIS on television.
