Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Shawn Jackson officiating.   In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Jackson will be cremated following the service.

David Jackson, 80, of Clarksburg passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in the United Hospital Center following a brief illness, with his sons Sterling and Marcus, and his good friend Jimmy Griffith by his side.

 

He was born in Clarksburg on April 16, 1939, a son of the late Isaac Howard and Maude Jackson.

 

He is survived by his wife, Edith Anne Washington Jackson, whom he married on June 5, 1972; two sons, Marc Jackson of Clarksburg and Sterling Jackson of Columbus, OH; two daughters, Carla Allen of Clarksburg and Regina Jackson of Cheat Lake; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews from the Columbus, Ohio area.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Isaac Jackson.

 

Mr. Jackson received his early years of education at Kelly Miller High School and was a graduate of Washington High School. He was retired from Union Carbide Corporation with 20 years of service and was also a consultant with MSES where he was an environmental specialist with 15 years of service.

 

Mr. Jackson was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Trustee for 10 years, a member and Exhalted Ruler of Mountain State Lodge #115, a member of Beulah Masonic Lodge #155, and served on the Board of Directors of the Black Heritage Festival. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved his great grandchildren.
