David Virgil Barker, 67, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Tygart Valley Rehab Nursing Facility, following an extended illness.

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on January 9, 1958, a son of the late Virgil Wesley Barker and Kathryn Prater Barker, who resides in Bridgeport.

David is survived by two daughters, Kathy Jean Buckhannon and husband Tommy of Clarksburg, and Heidi Leann Moore of Nutter Fort; one son, David Andrew Barker of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Hannah Barker, Alisia Swiger and husband Jake, Ashley Bynum, Haley Bynum, Aiden Buckhannon and Colt Barker; and four great grandchildren, Grayson, Cayson, Caydon and Nila. He also leaves behind his sister, Robin Godfrey of Bridgeport; one brother, John Barker of the Philippines; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Gertrude Mae Roach Barker, and maternal grandparents, Columbus and Nora Grace Green Prater.

David previously was a truck driver for 15 years for the Clarksburg Casket Company. He was a member of the Clarksburg Church of God and a former member of the Clarksburg Masonic Lodge. He loved playing music, fishing and was an amazing carpenter.

Honoring his wishes, David will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
