Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00 am with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests wind chimes in her memory.

Dorothy Mae Ayers, 70, of Stonewood passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Clarksburg, WV to the late Daniel and Stella Broadstone.

She was married to Daniel Carter Ayers, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are her two sons, Daniel Ayers, II and his wife Dorothy and James Ayers and his companion Christina Hawkins, all of Stonewood; nine grandchildren, Debra Ayers, whom she raised as her own daughter, Kimberly Ayers and companion Seth Ashley, Rebecca Ayers, KayLynne Heitger and her husband CJ, Gabriel Ayers and companion Kaitlyn Davis, Rayna Ayers, Isabella Ayers, Robert Gaston and companion Arissa Sizemore, Jamie Fraley and his wife Kimberly; eight great grandchildren, Allison Gaston, Jordan, KayLeigh and Oliver Heitger, Raelyn Fraley, Aryonna Harlow, Kaisen Hawkins and Baylee Jones; several adopted grandchildren that she cherished, especially John Landis and Keira Cummings.

She is also survived by two sisters, Karen (Tommy) Haught of Stonewood and LeaAnn (Leroy) Armstead of Clarksburg; one brother, Cecil Broadstone of Stonewood; one brother-in-law, Robert Scott of Anmoore; and several nieces and nephews, especially Stella Bailey, whom she raised as her own and Tabitha Scott.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Dianna Scott; one brother, Daniel Broadstone, Jr.; and one nephew, Rex Bailey.

When she was younger Dorothy loved doing pottery, but when she got older she loved to watch Hallmark movies and babysit her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Amedisys Hospice Care, especially Kendra and Miranda.
