Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where the service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James Saunders presiding.   Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Pearl Perkins Corder, 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018, at her residence in Vinton, VA.

 

She was born on December 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Hayes and Catherine Foley Perkins, who raised their family in Barbour County, WV.

 

She resided in Nutter Fort, WV, with her husband of 59 years, the late Paul Corder.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, James, Thomas, Guy, Bud, and Flem, and sisters, Nellie, Elsie and Joanna.

 

She is survived by four children, Gary P. Corder, James A. Corder, Kathy Mathis and husband Terry, and Gladys Ann Pugh and husband David; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Kelley and husband Scott, Gary S. Corder, Michael Corder and wife Marcia, Sarah Pitts and husband Quinton, Erica Dale and husband Greg, Brian Mathis and wife Michelle, Kristy Hayes and husband Dennis, Benjamin Pugh, Sarah Chappell and husband Joseph; 23 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one brother, Bern Perkins and his wife June, and one sister, Edna Pritchett.

 

Mrs. Corder was a devoted Christian, who was a charter member of Freedom Southern Baptist Church in Nutter Fort, and for the last five years was a member of First Roanoke Church.  She was a hardworking homemaker who enjoyed canning applesauce and her garden vegetables and reading the Bible daily.

 

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Heartland Hospice Care.
