Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Reverend Rita Robinson officiating. In keeping with his wishes, Michael will be cremated following the service.

Edmund “Michael” Cogar, 50, of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at his residence.

He was born in Elkins on February 17,1974, a son of the late Edmund L. Cogar and Eva Jeanette Findley Cogar who survives in Clarksburg.

In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his wife of 29 years, Heather Jo Dye Cogar; two sons, Joseph Michael “Joey” Cogar of Clarksburg and Noah Jacob Cogar and his companion Marleigh Mutschelknaus of Clarksburg; two bonus sons, Sayveon Tyree Beafore of Clarksburg and Jacob Matthew Bramer of Clarksburg; one sister, Janet Burbridge Hans and her husband Bob of New Milton; his nephew, Richard Harris; his niece, Kristin Cunningham; his best friend, Micheal Sloan; and his beloved dogs, Baine and Butterball.

Michael attended Hedgesville High School and was a distributor for Cogar Distributing (McKee Foods, Little Debbie). He also worked for the First United Methodist Church as head of maintenance. Michael loved traveling and going on family vacations to the beach. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and watching his boys play football. He also liked swimming, sitting on the Arden River and boating.
