Per his request, Mr. Davis will be cremated.   A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at noon in the chapel at Valley View Memorial Cemetery in Hurricane, WV with Dwane Bush presiding.

Gene Edison Davis, 85, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Hurricane on April 25, 1932, a son of the late Ivan E. and Orga Virginia Washington Davis.

 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lusinda “Cindy” Roberts Davis, whom he married on April 22, 1956.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Jean Elaine Crum and her husband Billy Joe of Charleston, Dwight Edison Davis and his wife Sherry of Bridgeport, James Dwane “J.D.” Davis of Clarksburg, Mark David Davis of Charlotte, NC, Cindy Luann Wade of Bridgeport, and Joilyn Davis Bush and her husband Jeffrey Todd “J.T.” of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren, Michael Davis Crum, Jonathan William Crum, Phillip Gene Crum, Nathaniel Kyle Davis, Annie “Azilee” Davis, Hannah Jean Wade, Jordyn Elaine Bush, Jacob Todd Bush and Jaci Lynn Bush; three great grandchildren, Olivia Grace Crum, Landon Michael Crum and Clara Jane Crum; one sister, Bonnie J. Davis Craig of Lexington, KY; two nieces, Suzanne Herb and Christie Teusch of Columbus, OH; and his lifelong friend, Dwane Bush.

 

He was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Terri Lynn Davis.

 

Mr. Davis was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, and was the Manager of Kroger for 36 years.

 

He attended Simpson Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the Hurricane First Baptist Church.

 

The family would like to express special thanks to the 6th floor staff of United Hospital Center and the staff of People’s Hospice.

 

Per his request, Mr. Davis will be cremated. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at noon in the chapel at Valley View Memorial Cemetery in Hurricane, WV with Dwane Bush presiding.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the People’s Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
