Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Reverend Peggy Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

George Roland Swoger, 89, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
He was born in Belle Vernon, PA on May 20, 1935, a son of the late William W. and Florence Markle Swoger.
He was married to Irene Lavon Swoger on August 27, 1957, who preceded him in death on June 13, 2016.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff Swoger and his fiancé Bethany of Clarksburg and and Tim Swoger of Woodstock, GA; two grandchildren, Carrie Smith of Woodstock, GA and Josh Swoger and his fiancé Courtney of Kennesaw, GA; two great grandchildren, Kinson and Evelyn; three sisters-in-law Judy Swoger of Wheeling, Carol Smith of Hepzibah and Beverly (Roy) Fultineer of Charleston; and one brother-in-law, Jesse Garold Smith of Bridgeport.
He was also preceded in death by three siblings, Florence Swoger Ritzer, Patricia Swoger Gibson and his twin brother, John “Jack” Swoger; and his daughter-in-law, Marcia Chandler Swoger.
George attended Victory High School and served in the United States Army having been stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. He was a glass cutter, having worked at Jeanette PA, Adamston Flat Glass, Rolland Glass, Pittsburgh Plate Glass and Jerry Run (Fourco Glass). George was one of the last surviving members of a former skilled trade. He helped create one of Adamston’s first minor league baseball teams and coached School Boy Patrol and Church League basketball teams. He was a member of Clarksburg Lodge No. 155 A.F. & A.M. a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in the Nemesis Temple of Shrine of Parkersburg. George was also a Scout Leader and an avid gardener.
