Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00 pm where a vigil rite will be held at 7:30pm to conclude the visitation. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00 am at the St. James Catholic Church with Father William Anderson and Father Akila Rodrigo as concelebrants. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Gerald James “Jerry” Maslanik, 83, of Hamill Avenue, Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his residence.

 

He was born in Dudley, PA on November 21, 1935, a son of the late Alex and Angela Houck Maslanik.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Larry Maslanik, whom he married on November 26, 1976.

 

Also surviving are two sons and one daughter, Paul, Michael and Wendy; and his extended family, son Robert Criner of Bridgeport, and daughters Kathy Cox and her husband Fred of Wilmington, NC and Christine Monell and her husband Peter of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Curtis, Dane and Cameron Cox, and Damien Monell, as well as several other grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Maslanik and his wife Ann, Danny Maslanik and his wife Connie, David Maslanik and his wife Cathy and Tim Maslanik and his wife Patty; one sister, Ann Marie Deming and her husband Ed; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was aslo preceded in death by one daughter, Laurie Ann Criner, as well as an infant son, James.

 

Mr. Maslanik was a graduate of the University of Maryland, a United States Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War and was a member of the Air Force Band for four years. He was the retired owner of Mountain Klassics, Inc, Interior Design & Furnishing, where he held the office of Secretary and Treasurer. He was associated with many projects, including the Empire National Bank, Clarksburg Municipal Building and the MVB Bank in Clarksburg. He was also previously property manager for Watergate Improvement Associates and property manager of construction for Watergate Properties in Washington, D.C. Jerry was very dedicated to his wife and family and was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.
