Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV, on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery where full military graveside rites will be accorded.

Gerald James Vernon, 87 of Parkville, MD, passed away on April 12, 2018.
He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on July 4, 1930, a son of the late Cecil Guy and Edna Bush Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Montine-Williams Vernon on June 6, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his son, Terry Vernon; and sisters, Juanita Yoak and Thelma Gerrard.
Mr. Vernon is survived by two children, Sharon Dettmer of Arbutus, MD and Melissa Brandenburg of Parkville, MD. He was the grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 11. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Sam Vernon, Marceline Vernon, Ethel Davis, and Caroline Breeden.
Mr. Vernon was a veteran in the United States Army, and a Master Carpenter who built custom homes.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV, on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Stottlemyer presiding.
Interment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery where full military graveside rites will be accorded.
