Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street Nutter Fort on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Ronnie Beeson officiating.  Interment will be in the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gladine Rose “Rosie” Bell Ables, 84, of West Milford passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

She was born in Lost Creek on September 12, 1940, a daughter of the late William and Mildred Skinner Bell.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Brooks Ables, having passed away on the day of their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Surviving are three children, Gina Harris and her husband Dave of Clarksburg, Monty Ables and his wife Gwen of Jacksonville, FL and Stacy Brunett and her husband Chip of Fairmont; two grandchildren, David Harris and his wife Cortney and Tanner Simons; four great grandchildren, Dane, Emmy, Jake and Jade; one son-in-law, B. K. Simons; one brother-in-law, Jimmie Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Willow.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having also been preceded in death by one daughter, Gail Simons; one brother, Steven Bell; and one sister, Melba Johnson.

Gladine was a member of the Lost Creek Church of God for over 50 years and assisted her husband in conducting Sunday school service at Crestview Nursing Home in Jane Lew for 29 years.   She was an avid reader for many years and enjoyed playing board games and games on her iPad.  She loved her WV Mountaineers and particularly enjoyed women’s basketball.  Gladine was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and was known for her cooking and baking she did in her Coca-Cola decorated kitchen.  She was especially famous for her hotdog chili and homemade Easter candies.
