A Private family gathering will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at which time services will begin with Pastor Randy Montgomery presiding. Masks will be required for entry into the funeral home.  A Private Interment will immediately follow in the Crislip Cemetery.

Hazel Ruth Root Cook, age 88, of Clarksburg, departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 2021.

 

She was born July 8th, 1932 in Perryapolis, PA, a daughter of the late Marlow W. Root and Bertha Hellman Root.  Her husband, Kenneth Cook, preceded her in death.

 

Surviving are three children, Marlow and his companion Nancy of Nutter Fort, Bertha and her husband John of Brownton, and Russell and his wife Debra of Bridgeport.  In addition to her children, Hazel has 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Four siblings, Russell Root of Athens, WV, Minnie Nichols, Grace Henderson, and Pearl Edwards, all of Bridgeport.

 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Ann Price; one grandchild, and several siblings.

 

Hazel was dedicated to her family, especially having been a caregiver to her parents for many years.  She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed playing Dominoes in her spare time.  Above all she loved spending time with her family. She was Methodist by faith.
