Helen Pritchard, age 94, of the Briarwood Community, Bridgeport passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in the River Oaks Nursing Home.

 

She was born in Clarksburg on March 27, 1925 a daughter of the late Jay G. and Bertie E. Snider.

 

Her husband, Wather D. “Bud” Pritchard, whom she married on September 15, 1947, preceded her in death on February 15, 2017.

 

She is survived by her son, James S. Pritchard and his wife Cynthia of Clarksburg; and granddaughters, Andrea Pritchard and Cheryl Lynnette Hurst.

 

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie J. Stalnaker.

 

Helen had a banking career with Lowndes Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan in Clarksburg for over 25 years. She also served for many years as an aide and a substitute teacher with the Harrison County School System. She held a license in real estate and insurance and was associated with her husband in their Pritchard Insurance Agency. She and her husband sold their business in 2005.

 

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was most proud of receiving her BA in education at age 75 from Fairmont State University.

 

Helen belonged to many civic organizations including Eastern Star, Amaranth Clarksburg, and the United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the WV National Cemetery.
