Family & Friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Fred Aves presiding.  The Herman Lodge #6 AF & AM will meet at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home Thursday at 10:30 AM for the purpose of attending and conducting masonic graveside rites.  Interment will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to the Stonewood Fire Department, 213 Plainwood Ave., Stonewood, WV 26301, Anmoore EMS, 100 Ash Street N, Anmoore, WV 26301 or West Virginia Hospice, 6 Hartman Plaza, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

James “Jim” Milton Snyder, 80, of Stonewood, WV passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his residence.

Jim was born in Stonewood, WV on January 11, 1938 the son of the late Claude Snyder and Wyomia Childers Snyder.

Jim is survived by his wife Sylvia Black Snyder whom he married on December 31, 1962 and resides at their home in Stonewood. Also surviving are one son, James Gregory Snyder and wife Carol Diane of Cleveland, OH; two grandchildren, Nicholas Thornhill and wife Maria of Daytona, FL and James Wesley Snyder of Cleveland, OH; one great granddaughter, Brandice Thornhill of Daytona, FL; one sister-in-law, Patty Snyder of Bridgeport along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Lee Snyder, Twila Marie Allman and Rita Mae McClung; and one brother Paul C. Snyder.

He served his country in the United States Airforce and retired after 32 years from CNG working in the Microfilm Records department. He was a member of Herman Lodge #6 AF & AM, the Central West Virginia Wireless Association and the Stonewall United Methodist Church.

Jim was very active for many years and also having retired from the Stonewood Volunteer Fire Department.  He was an avid sportsman, especially having enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
