Jesse Medina, 90, of Spelter passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Harrison County on August 10, 1929, a son of the late Joe and Adela Lopez Medina.

 

He is survived by his wife Lena Jerome Medina, whom he married May 13, 1951.

 

In addition, he is survived by two children, Linda Marie Derosa of Bridgeport and Jim Medina of Shinnston; six grandchildren, Jessica Medina and her fiance Shane McEldowney, Angela Haught, Teresa Medina Harkins and husband Wes, James Medina II and his wife Lyndsey, Michael Derosa and his wife Jaimie, and Marcus Derosa; eight great grandchildren, Ana Haught, Ali Haught, Brogan Medina, Sohpee Medina, Logan Harkins, Katie Derosa, Dominick Derosa, and Maggie Grace MeEldowney; one sister, Carmina Medina Cortez; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Kandi Ramsey.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Joe Medina, Victor Medina, Angel Medina, Tino Medina, Julius Medina, Charlie Medina, and Louis Medina.

 

Mr. Medina was a 1950 graduate of Victory High School.  He was a United States Army 101 Airborne veteran and a retired coal miner from Robinson Run #95.  Jesse was also a member of the Spelter Lions Club, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, and the Spelter Senior Citizens.

 

A private graveside will be held at the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV for Mr. Medina.
