Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Minister Franklin Harrison officiating. Interment will be in the Stonewall Park Cemetery.

John Henry Garrett, Jr., 68, of Clarksburg passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025.
He was born in Clarksburg on February 12, 1957, a son of the late John Henry Garret, Sr. and Willa Mae Cox Garrett.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Conner Garrett; one son, Erik Rajohn Acklin; two step-children, Brandi Payne-Johnson and Ennis “E.C.” Payne, II; five grandchildren, Joshua Barrett, Celeste Bouie, Samone Bouie, Kevin Hairston and Nasiear Westmoreland; 12 great grandchildren, Aubrianna, Marlee, Naila, Cairo, Kailan, Xyaire, Ava, Ze’ura, Zowie, Le’Vonia and Stoane; three siblings, Tryphena (Mark) Tully, Mareen Savage and Willa Denise “D.D.” Maxwell; several nieces and nephews including his favorite niece, Nicole; and his fur baby cats, Boo Boo, Runt and Moon.
He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Vernon Maxwell.
Mr. Garrett was previously a machinist with Skana Aluminum Company. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing pool and hanging out with friends. He liked singing and taking long walks and loved gardening.
