Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. where services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Rita Robinson presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

John “Sonny” Allevato, 88, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his residence.

 

He was born in Granville, WV, on December 11, 1930, a son of the late Frank and Catherine Audia Allevato.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Rose Oliverio Allevato.

 

Mr. Allevato is survived by his daughter Deborah K. Frum and husband Stanley of Clarksburg; two sons, John F. Allevato and wife Melonie of Charleston, Gregory S. Allevato and wife Nena of Myersville, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Kaitlin Frum Walker and husband Andrew of Clarksburg, Meghan Frum Kroll and husband John of Clarksburg, Jason Scott Allevato and wife Courtney of Arlington, VA, Jennifer Marie Allevato Muller and husband Jason of Alexandria, VA, John Michael Allevato of Arlington, VA, Matthew James Allevato of Morgantown, Anthony Joseph Allevato of Winchester, VA, Captain Nicholas Scott Allevato of Tacoma, Washington; one step-granddaughter, Michelle Frum Cunningham and husband Douglas of Granville, OH; three great-grandchildren, Henry L. Walker, Charles E. Walker and Wilson J. Kroll; three step great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Grady, Olivia Cunningham and Isaiah Cunningham; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

A special thank you to Mary Childers for all the love and care she showed to our father.

 

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Allevato and Anthony “Tony” Allevato, and two sisters, Sophie Belcastro and Marybelle Vince.

 

Sonny was a graduate of University High School and attended West Virginia University. He worked in management at a local grocery store for many years. He was a member of the 1946 WV State Champion Morgantown American Legion Baseball. He was a huge WVU football and basketball fan and loved his pets. Gardening was his passion.
