Joseph Alfred “Babe” Tiano made the journey home to see his mom, dad, brothers and sisters on Tuesday October 9th, just 6 days before his 88th Birthday. His mother and father are the late Joseph Anthony and Angelina Maria (Guzzo) Tiano. He is with his brothers Felix “Duck” (Barbara) Tiano, Albert “Abe” Tiano, William E. “Billy” Tiano, and his baby sister Rosemarie Merandi. He is also with his sister that raised his family after his mother passed, Mary (Frank) Paletta, along with his brothers-in-law, Joseph and Frank Cavallo and Mike Amodio.

He has been blessed to spend 66 years with the love of his life Frances (Cavallo) Tiano.

He showered his children Mary K. (Bob) Greer, and Vincent (Celia) Tiano, with love and they will miss him.

He has 5 grandchildren, Kathryn (Zachary) Garrett, Joseph, Robert, Christopher Greer, and Nicklas Tiano. He has one great granddaughter due in March 2019, Sofia Noel Garrett. His beloved brother John “Sheriff” Tiano sisters in law Barbara and Kathleen Tiano and brother in law Frank “Cheech” Merandi also survive him. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Delores Cavallo, Devanna (Lou) Stoper, and Eleanor “Tootsie” Amodio. He leaves behind his special friends, Dr. Amante and Josie Lopez, and Tim LeFevre.

Babe never met a stranger, he served his country in the Korean War as a proud member of the Air Force. He spent 10 years working for Goldsmith and Black. He then worked at the American Tobacco Company for 30 years. Retiring at the age of 60 allowed Babe to pursue many endeavors over the years. He was an avid golfer and spent many days playing with his brother Sheriff and many friends. He has been actively involved in the Knights of Columbus #872 and is in the 4th degree #1184 Assembly. He recruited over 600 members to the Knights and was top proposer in the state of West Virginia for 16 years. He has been an usher at St. James Catholic Church in North View for 66 years. His love for the church has always been a guiding light in his life.

He loved watching all sporting events, he attended all of his grandchildren’s games as often as he could. He is extremely proud to watch his grandson Nicklas as quarterback for University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, during his college years.

Babe spent his life serving his family, friends, church, and community. He is a rare person who always greeted everyone with a smile and was eager to talk to anyone. Because of his love for the church, he wishes that everyone will give donations in lieu of flowers to St. James Catholic Church 2001 Pride Avenue Clarksburg, WV 26301.
