Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at11:00 am with Pastor Ed McDaniels officiating. Interment will be in the Coplin Cemetery.

Josie Corena Bennett, 64, of Salem passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in the United Hospital Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Clarksburg on February 3, 1961, a daughter of the late John W. Kovar, Sr. and Edith Joan Carson Kovar.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bennie Noel Bennett, Jr., whom she married on September 14, 1984.

Also surviving are three daughters, Angelena Frankenberger and her husband Michael of Lost Creek, Ashlee Schlicker and her husband Bruce of Clarksburg and Marella Ramsey and her husband Steve of Salem; 14 grandchildren, Haleigh, Isabella, Gwendolyn, Isla Mae, Miles, Mason, Adalynn, Alyssa, Bennett, Braylon, Korena, Shaneena, Cole and McKenzie; one great grandson, Jesse; two brothers, Doug Kovar of West Milford and John Kovar, Jr. of Salem; three sisters, Glenda of Fairmont, Frances Rexroad of West Milford and Karla Kovar of Lost Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Tina Owens; her father-in-law, Bennie Bennett, Sr., and her mother-in-law, Mary Bennett.

Mrs. Bennett loved spending time with her family, especially her grand kids. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and loved being on the farm, camping at Big Bear and sitting around the fire.
