Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.   Catholic Funeral Rites will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Hilarion V. Cann presiding.   Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.

Karl S. D’Anselmi, 90, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at his residence.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on October 30, 1927, a son of the late Sam and Minnie Nery

D’Anselmi.

 

He was married on March 20, 1951, to his wife, Viola Jean DeMaria D’Anselmi, who preceded him in death on March 25, 2010.

 

Mr. D’Anselmi is survived by one daughter, Karleen Reid of Clarksburg; one grandson, David “DJ” Reid and wife Katie; two great grandchildren, Maddie Jean Reid, and Josephine “JoJo” Reid; two brothers, Harry “Bud” D’Anselmi and wife LeEllen of Clarksburg, and Kenneth D’Anselmi of Clarksburg; sisters-in-law, Patty D’Anselmi, and Mary D’Anselmi; as well as several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Mike DeMaria.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Dave D’Anselmi, and two sisters, Lucille Lopez and Carolyn Corley.

 

Karl served our country during the Korean War as a U.S. Army Staff Sargent in the Motor Pool, and was a retired Electrician from I.B.E.W. Local # 596.

 

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, was Honorary Council for the WV Italian Heritage Festival, and 2018 Glenwood Hill Ridge Runner of the year.

 

Karl was very well known in the dirt track racing world as a flagman for Elkins Speedway, Morgantown Speedway, Interstate, and Weston Race Tracks for 23 years. Prior to flagging, Karl raced dirt race cars for 10 years.  He was recently inducted into the Elkins Wall of Fame in 2017.  Obviously, he had a great love for racing and cars.  He enjoyed NASCAR, any type of racing and car shows.  He enjoyed the WVU Mountaineers.
