Maureen “Ducky” Anne Maloney, nee McNerney, 70, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at her residence; with her husband and daughter by her side. Maureen’s passing marks the end of a difficult 5 year battle with breast and lung cancer.

 

She was born in Richmond Hill, NY, on February 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Charles J. McNerney and Anne Devine McNerney.

 

Maureen graduated from Holy Child School in 1962. She graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy four years later in 1966. She became very active in the Tom Dooley Foundation after graduation and was very passionate about helping his cause and volunteering in his organization. Maureen was the first female business office Supervisor for the New York Telephone Company. She had a very successful career with the phone company in New York and was promoted to management very quickly. She retired early to raise her family.

 

Maureen was married on April 4, 1970, to William Richard Maloney. They were married for over 48 years. William still resides at their home in Bridgeport, WV. Maureen and Bill raised their family in Cohoes, NY, and were long time parishioners of St. Marie’s parish (now the Church of the Holy Trinity). She is also survived by three daughters, Kathleen Maloney Tully and husband Paul of Bloomington, IN, Colleen Maloney of Evanston, IL, and Tara Maloney of Troy, NY; five grandchildren, Christopher, Eileen, Anne, Michael, and James Tully; one brother, Brian McNerney and wife Carol Ann of Los Angeles, CA; and one niece, Lee Ann McNerney Sheridan.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 27th, 2019 (1:00pm – 4:00pm) at Leo F. Kearns Funeral home located at 85-66 115th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church Of The Holy Child Jesus on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 9:45am. The church is located at 111-11 86 Avenue, Richmond Hill, NY 11418. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village, N.Y. 11379.
