Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home,201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joy Ann Butcher-Winfree as officiant. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Nancy Carol McDaniel Fidler, 89, of Buffalo Lake, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the United Hospital Center.

She was born in Roane County on May 29, 1935 to the late William Hunter McDaniel and Della May Kershner McDaniel.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lieutenant Colonel Retired United States Airforce Joseph Edward Fidler whom she married on April 7, 1957.

Also surviving are two sons: Edward “Corey” Fidler and wife Sally of Santa Fe, NM and Eric Daniel Fidler and wife Lisa of Chambersburg, PA, two granddaughters, Olivia and Isabella Fidler; three sisters, Willa Mae Weekley and husband Gene of Huntington, WV, Sue Ann Corder and husband Lee of Ravenswood, WV and Mary Jo Moore and husband David of Ravenswood, WV; sister-in-law, Becky Barnett of Buffalo Lake; and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Hunter “Shon” McDaniel, James Edward “Peg” McDaniel and Gene Arthur “Shorty” McDaniel.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Unidis High School and attended business college receiving an associate’s degree in Art. She worked for Lowndes Bank as a teller and secretary. She was a member of the West Milford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, making everything she wore, painting, ceramics, quilting and embroidery. While living on the Air Force Base, she participated in the Wives Club, modeling the clothes that she had sewn and was a greeter to new families that moved to the base.
