The family will receive friends at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.  A graveside service will follow at the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery with Reverend Cecil Welch presiding.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarksburg Church of God Food Pantry.

Opal Hardman Felton, formerly of Clarksburg, WV, departed this life on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Williamsport Retirement Village, in Williamsport, Maryland.

 

She was born October 15, 1920, in Walkersville, WV, the daughter of the late Perry Earl Hardman and the late Lena Hamilton Hardman.  She was united in marriage to Warren K. Felton, June 22, 1941, who also preceded her in death on November 20, 1992.

 

Surviving are their two children David Felton, Atlanta, GA and Beverly Harris, Falling Waters, WV with whom she made her home due to failing health.  Other survivors include a sister Eileen Thibaut of Ohio, and one brother-in-law, Robert Felton.  Also, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Lola March and Athleen Frazier, four brothers, “Bill” Hardman, Gerald E Hardman, Sylvester (Ves) Hardman, Virgil (Lee) Hardman, one grandson Timothy Warren Harris, and son-in-law Robert G Harris.

 

Opal retired from Maiden Form Company after 29 years of service.  She continued her sewing skills at home making beautiful quilts and doilies, also doing alterations for her many friends and relatives.  Mrs. Felton was a long-time member of the Clarksburg Church of God where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and was Director of Vacation Bible School for 25 years.  She was honored as Mother of the Year in 1994 and Teacher of the Year in 2002.
