Obituaries

Randall Dale “Randy” McAtee, 67, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on May 12, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Clarksburg, WV on January 23, 1958, a son of the late Robert and Joretta Garrett McAtee.

Randy married Sandra “Becky” Cogar McAtee on March 3, 1994. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2025.

He is survived by three children; Christina Rittenhouse of Weston, Joshua McAtee and wife Treska of Poca, WV, and Caitlin McDonald and husband Russ of Anmoore; two bonus children, Pauletta Cogar of Bridgeport and Zachary Harper of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Logan Summers, Brayden Rittenhouse, Kenleigh Rittenhouse, Isabella Arnett and Ireland McDonald; two brothers, Allen McAtee and wife Jackie of Alabama and Jeff McAtee and wife Doretta of Ohio; and one sister, Brenda Greathouse and husband William of California.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Veronica Harper, and his beloved dog, Chico.

Randy was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1976. He worked as an Environmental Resource Specialist for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

He enjoyed watching WVU football, hunting, and riding his lawnmower. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Per his request, cremation services were held.

Family and friends may gather at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm where the memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm to conclude the gathering.
