Ronald Joe Butcher, 75, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family following a long battle with Alzheimers.

He was born in Clarksburg on September 13, 1942, a son of the late Ray “Doc” and Lucy McCormick Butcher.

Surviving are one son, Jeff Butcher and his significant other Leslie McDavid of Marco Island, FL; two daughters, Ronda Lanham of Clarksburg, and Donna Shinkovich and her husband Danny of Morgantown; four grandsons, Kyle and Tyler Lanham, and Aidan and Cameron Shinkovich; one granddaughter, Jordan Lanham; two brothers, Richard Butcher of Clarksburg, and Jerry Butcher of Mineral Ridge, OH; five sisters, Sharon Alonso of Clarksburg, Brenda Conley of Mt. Clare, Linda Altovilla and her husband Pasco of Clarksburg, Terry Felts and her husband Stuart of Clarksburg, and Barbara Johnson of Savanah, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ray Butcher; and four sisters, Rosemary Tingler, Sarah Spohn, Olive Boyce and Margaret Schweinbraten.

Referred to as Ronnie Joe or Joe Butch by his family and friends, he did many things in his life, from shoe shine boy when he was a kid, to his own construction company later on. He spent most of his working life at Union Carbide Corporation, where he worked nearly 30 years until his retirement as a machinist. He spent his retired years helping friends and family with numerous projects and spent time tending his garden. Ronnie Joe loved to make up songs and tell stories, play cards and watch the Mountaineers and westerns. He was the nicest, most caring man anyone could ever know. He will be missed and loved dearly by one and all. The family would like to thank all the family and friends who came to be with him in his final days. May he be greeted by God as a friend with a smile, and rest in eternal peace. He was Baptist by faith.
