Family and friends will be received at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street Nutter Fort on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM where funeral services will begin at 6:30PM with Reverend Ken Ramsey presiding. Per her request, cremation services will follow.  An inurnment will be held privately by the family at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Harrison County Humane Society at 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV  26431.

Ruth Blackshire Fahey, age 99, of Clarksburg departed this life peacefully while holding both of her daughters’ hands on Saturday, October 27, 2018, following a brief illness.

 

She was born January 28, 1919, a daughter of the late Floyd Blackshire and Mary M. Morris Blackshire.  Her husband, Edward James Fahey, whom she married April 15, 1939, preceded her in death August 15, 1998.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Marg Robey of Clarksburg, and Melissa Anne Hamrick and her husband Alfred of Columbus, Ohio.  Three grandchildren, Lorri Anne Robey of Clarksburg, Traci Lynn Bailey and her husband Bobby of Jane Lew, and Jennifer Jane Robey of Clarksburg; four great grandchildren, Ronald Anthony Fazzini, Alex Brooks Cain, Matthew Edward Robey and his wife Jenna, and Brittany Paige Petry and her husband James; and four great-great grandchildren, MaKenna Lynn Robey, Dominic Zane Robey, Emily Ruth Petry, and Nevaeh Faith Petry.

 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lorraine Blackshire, infant brother; and son-in-law, Ronald B. Robey.

 

Ruth was fondly referred to by her family as “Lovegirl” and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially for the likes of Jeff Gordon, Larry Bird and Mickey Mantle.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
