On November 22, 2024, this world lost a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Sandra Kay Godwin, age 78, passed on peacefully from her battle with dementia in her home surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her devoted Husband of 60+ years of marriage, Wayne Godwin; Her son, Ron Godwin, his wife Leah, and their daughter Alaina; Her daughter, Monica Godwin, her children, Seth Ferree and his wife Abigail, with their children Madeliene and Nathalie; and Matthew Ferree and his finance’ LeeAnn Cummings.
Sandy was born in Clarksburg on February 11, 1946, to the late Lloyd Sutton and Blanch Strader Sutton Lorentz.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Sutton. Also survived by her is her favorite Nephew Randal Cox; and nieces, Amy Godwin Lindsey, Kimberly Cox Waggaman, and Pamela Sutton Huckaby.
Anyone who knew Sandy knew she was quite a character. She had a spirit all her own and was not afraid to show it. She was a person who was straightforward and direct, often speaking her mind without sugarcoating her thoughts or feelings. She was very honest, confident, and assertive with sharp wit and sarcasm.
To her family and those close to her, Sandy was unfailingly loyal and kind, always there for them in a time of need and ready to come to their defense if need be. She enjoyed spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family, always making homemade cookies and fudge with her husband every year. She was a woman of faith and longtime member of the Stonewood Fellowship Church. Sandy was a staple of her community and resident of Nutter Fort for 58+ years, and her loss will be felt by many.
Following Sandra’s wishes, there will be no service. Amos Carvelli will be handling her cremation.
