Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Larry R. Fleming officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Velma Ethel Watson Heres, 97, of Nutter Fort, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born on February 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Arzy and Margie Barker Watson.
She was married to Manuel Heres on September 12, 1940, who preceded her in death on April 10, 1993.
Surviving are one daughter, Florinda “Cindy” Heres Britton of Nutter Fort; one son, Manuel “Mike” Heres, Jr., and his wife Krista of Winchester, VA; six grandchildren, Brooke Gunter and her husband Timothy, Jessica Dickens and her husband Donald, Crystel Smith and her husband Sean, Lisa Boyd and her husband Rick, Michelle Lynn Heres and Michael McEldowny; two brothers, Delford Watson and his wife Betty of Bridgeport and Denver Watson of Newcomerstown, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; and one son-in-law, John Britton.
Mrs. Heres was retired from the housekeeping department at United Hospital Center and was formerly a waitress at Jewel City Bowling Alley. She was a member of the East Clarksburg Baptist Church, was an avid quilter and loved spending time with her family and friends.
