Violet Marie Barker, 92, of Clarksburg passed away on May 31, 2016 at the residence of her granddaughter following a brief illness.

She was born in Clarksburg, WV on June 2, 1923 a daughter of the late Jacob and Mamie Nicholas Bower.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Floyd Wayne Barker who she married May 26, 1956. Also surviving are three sons, Gerald “Butch” Bower and wife Barbara of Sandusky, OH, Gary Barker and wife Marilyn of Sommersville, SC and Bruce Barker and wife Beth of Clarksburg, WV; four grandchildren, Valerie Bower, Scott Bower and wife Connie, Brian Barker, and Rochelle Depree; one brother, Howard Bower, OH; two sisters, Bonnie Majoy and husband Joe of Huron, OH and Pearl Osborne, Victory, OH.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin, Francis, Everett, James and Virgil Bower and two sisters, Geraldine Wiley and Eva Somoles.

She retired as a glass worker after 33 years from Brockway and Hazel Atlas Glass Co. She attended the Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, WV on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV at 12:00 noon with Pastor Bobby Bright presiding. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
