Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.   Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park where full military graveside Rites will be accorded.  Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM.

Walter Clark Murphy, 85, of Salem, WV, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital, following an extended illness.

 

He was born in Centerpoint, WV, on February 10, 1932, a son of the late Lonnie and Alma Smith Murphy.

 

Twice married, Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Woodson Murphy in 1956, and his second wife, Dina Belle Moore Murphy in 2011.

 

Mr. Murphy is survived by two daughters, Loretta Barberio and husband Frank of Reynoldsville, WV, and Julia Posey and husband Tom of Wolf Summitt, one son-in-law, Melvin Adams; four grandchildren, Shannon Jolly and husband Troy, Frank Barberio and wife Koa, Justin Adams and Jeanessa Thompson; five great grandchildren, Sierra Jolly, Kaeli Jolly, Francesca Jolly, Jayden Thompson and Matthew Barberio.  He is also survived by two brothers, Jimmie Murphy and wife Becky of Chardon, OH, and Dave Murphy and wife Judie of Raleigh, NC; four sisters, Freda Hutson of Sedalia, Agnes Kenyon of Salem, Nadine Moyers and husband Gayland of Geneva, OH, and Delores McCormick and husband Roger of Paynesville, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents and spouses, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeannette Blake and Regina Adams; and two sisters, Luella Murphy and Lucille Swiger.

 

Mr. Murphy was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.  He retired from the State of WV Department of Highways where he was an equipment operator, and PPG Glass Industry.

 

Mr. Murphy was a member of the Enon Baptist Church, and a former member of Salem Lodge #84 AF & AM, a member of the Friendship Lodge # 56 AF & AM and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

 

He enjoyed woodworking and never knew a stranger.

Interment will follow in the K of P Memorial Park where full military graveside Rites will be accorded.  Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM.
