Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Sandy presiding. Interment will follow in the Skinner Family Cemetery.

Walter Lee Skinner, 82, of Little Rock Camp WV, passed away December 27, 2019 with his son, Walter L. Skinner II, and his son in law and daughter, James and Charmagne Ayotte by his side.

 

He was born December 31, 1936 in Clarksburg, WV.

 

At the age of 17 he left to proudly serve his country for 4 years in the US Navy. Traveling to Italy, Greece, Germany and many other places. After his 4-year term in the Navy he switched gears and chose to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served his country for another 20 years doing two overseas tours. One to Hong Kong and another to Thailand.

 

At the age of 24 while stationed in Florida he met the love of his life in Destin, Florida. That young lady was Johnnie Jacoba Aileen Dupuis Owen. They married December 29,1962 in Georgia.

 

At the end of his Military Service they retired back to his home of West Virginia. There they single handedly built their home with love in Little Rock Camp where they enjoyed their days loving nature and each other. Many family gatherings, target practice sessions, hunting escapades, camp fires, snipe hunts, horseback riding, trapping, tanning hides, bird watching, fox breeding, gardening, tree climbing, canning and so much more occurred at the place that they loved together with friends and family. A welcoming front porch to all who visited.

 

Walter is survived by his son Walter L. Skinner II and his grandchildren Kevin Skinner, Remy Skinner, Victoria Skinner Frame & husband Patrick Frame & 3 great grandchildren Avery, Cole and Mason Frame.

 

He is also survived by his daughter Charmagne Ayotte & husband James R. Ayotte III, Grandson Matthew J. Wiseman and wife Amanda E. Wiseman and 2 great grandchildren Benjamin Wiseman & Lillian Wiseman, and granddaughter Sarah Kathleen Vecchio.

 

He is also survived by Granddaughter Julia Rembert Feild, husband Steve and great grandchildren Cassidy and Reese Feild of Tomball, TX

 

He is also survived by one Stepdaughter Kathleen Owen Morgan of Texas and One sister Shirley A. Wright of Mt. Clare WV and many nieces and nephews that he truly loved.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther Frank Skinner and Bonnie Velma Riley Skinner, three brothers Frank Junior Skinner, Richard Clyde Skinner, and James Edward Skinner.

 

Also, preceding him in death was one stepdaughter Pamela J. Owen Rembert and finally his beloved wife Johnnie of 55 years whom he never stopped missing and loving.

 

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Sandy presiding.

Interment will follow in the Skinner Family Cemetery.
