Obituaries

Wanda Jean Burton, 79, of Flemington, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness.  She was born in Rosemont on December 6, 1938, a daughter of the late Robert Brooks and Erma Pearl Wimer Riffle.

Surviving are her husband, J. Thomas Burton, whom she married on June 9, 1957; two daughters, Kila Kay Rus and her husband Douglas of Burke, VA, and Regina Rae May and her husband Jeff of Flemington; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey and Martha May; extended grandchildren, Sarah Pattison, John, Tyler, Chase and Taylor Goodykoontz, ; one brother, Robert G. Riffle and his wife Juanita of Flemington; one sister, Shirley M. Broadwater and her husband Rodney of Fayetteville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Burton was a 1956 graduate of Flemington High School and was a retired bookkeeper at Bank One with 35 years of service.  She enjoyed cooking and camping, but her favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren.  She was also very good at giving her husband, Tom, a hard time. She was Methodist by faith.

Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Lois Sandy officiating.  Interment will be in the Flemington, I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to WVU Medicine Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV  26330
