Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 am with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Wesley Rene “Wes” Drake, 84, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at his residence following an extended battle with lymphoma.

He was born in Clarksburg on August 12, 1939, a son of the late Mamie Pearl Musgrave Drake.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue “Sudie” Drake.

Surviving are four children, Robert Drake of Clarksburg, Teresa Sears and her partner Doug Coffman of Shinnston, Stacy Bastin and her husband Paul Bastin III, of Bridgeport, and Erin Bleier of Swannanoa, NC; three step children, Paula Frye and her husband Danny of Clarksburg, William “Billy” Ashley of Clarksburg and Tricia Bombadiere and her husband Mario of Bridgeport; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Drake, Dylan Drake, Logan Drake, Amber Bumgardner, Noah Sears, Austin Drake, Tanner Bastin, Braden Bastin, Carson Bastin, Harlan Bleier and Lilah Bleier; and four great grandchildren, Aleigha Peiffley, Ashton Michael, Neala Deake and Ryker Drake.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Devericks, Shirley Conrad and Billie Drake.

Mr. Drake was a United States Marine Veteran. He was a mechanical contractor and proud owner of W. R. Drake Company where he had loyal employees whom he thought of as family. He loved being outdoors, hunting, and being at “the camp”. He adored his family and was always at his grandchildren’s sports events and extracurricular activities.
