There will be a gathering of family and friends in the Parlor at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 20, 20108 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, where a memoruial service will be held at 1:00 pm with Reverend Greg Godwin presiding.  Interment will be private.

William Eugene Yoke, Sr., 89, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.  He was born in Weston on May 13, 1928, the son of Truman J. and Bessie Peters Yoke.

 

He was married to Ann Romine Yoke on May 31, 1945, who preceded him in death on February 19, 2015.

 

Surviving are two sons, William E. Yoke, Jr. and his wife Dolores of Clarksburg, and Donald S. Yoke and his wife Tina of Clarksburg; one daughter, Margaret Y. “Peggy” Booth and her husband Fred of Shinnston; eight grandchildren, Andrew Booth of Baltimore, MD, Sarah Seidl and her husband Jamie of Matthews, NC, Neil Yoke and his wife Beth of Chicago, IL, Blair Yoke and his companion Susanna Diller of Louisville, KY, Rachel Yoke of Pittsburgh, Ben Yoke of Lost Creek, Daniel Yoke of Morgantown, and Owen Yoke and his fiancé Aaliyah Loy of Clarksburg, Zach Fowler of Clarksburg, and Hanna Fowler of Clarksburg; two great grandchildren, Gwendolyn Seidl and Sam Seidl, both of Matthews, NC; five nieces and nephews, Michael Francis and his wife Liu of New York, NY, John Francis and his wife Teri of Salisbury, NC, David Romine and his wife Kathy of Narbeth, PA, Pam Henry and her husband John of Bowie, MD, and Rick Yoke of Clarksburg.

 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David L. Yoke and Richard B. Yoke; and one sister, Betty Fish.

 

Mr. Yoke attended Salem College and began his career with Standard Advertising, People’s Life Insurance, Pillsbury Mills and Loar & White.  He began working at Lowndes Bank in 1960 and then CB&T, having retired as Vice President with 35 years of service. Mr. Yoke was President Northern Region (NABAC)

 

He was a member of Herman Lodge No. 6 A.F. & A.M., a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in both Clarksburg and Wheeling bodies, Knight Commander Court of Honor (KCCH).  He was a past Potentate of Nemesis Temple of Shrine Valley of Parkersburg, Director Emeritus of Nemesis Temple, and member and past Director Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 156.

 

Mr. Yoke was a Past President of the Clarksburg Exchange Club, past President of the Clarksburg Kiwanis, and past President of the Oral Lake Fishing Club.

 

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
