Per his request, he will be cremated.   A Memorial Service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.   A private inurnment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

William Hampton “Billy” McCoy, 79, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his residence.

 

He was born in Clarksburg, on January 3, 1939, a son of the late Hampton Milton and Marie Walker McCoy.

 

Twice married, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death in 2017 by his first wife, Sandra Kerns McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Ann McCoy; two sisters, Ganiel “Gay” Smith and Jacquelyn “Jackie” Bell.

 

He is survived by one son, William Hampton McCoy, II of Tampa, FL; one daughter, The Honorable Monica McCoy Purdy and husband Torbejorne “Toby” of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Zoe Elon Purdy, Zane Ellis Purdy, Brett Allen Jackson, William H. McCoy, III, Toni S. Williams, Hampton M McCoy, II, Jaquail H. Jackson, Amaya Jai Timmes and Tyisha M. McCoy; his former wife, JoAnn James of Bridgeport, WV; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Billy was a graduate of Kelly Miller High School and West Virginia State College. Mr. McCoy was the owner of a real estate agency in Tampa, Florida, and after his retirement from real estate he worked at the Clarksburg Public Library.

 

Mr. McCoy was protestant by faith and served our country as a veteran in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Kelly Miller Association and inducted into the Kelly Miller Hall of Fame.

 

Per his request, he will be cremated.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

 

A private inurnment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
