Amy Kaye Mayes-Simpson, age 53, of Clarksburg, WV passed too soon on August 22, 2023. Amy was born August 14, 1970, at United Hospital Center to Melvin Mayes and G. Kaye McCall. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1988. Since she was a young girl, Amy loved fishing and arcade games. As an adult she appreciated Crocs, coffee, and the music of Post Malone. Amy was a homebody who enjoyed her house and her pets, Stella, Liam and Peeta. Amy always looked forward to holidays spent with family and each time was the first to inquire about the celebration plans.

Amy worked various jobs before obtaining her CNA license and finally finding a career that she enjoyed along with many friends who shared her same passion of caring for others. When Amy’s mother, Kaye, was passing the nurse made a point to mention how compassionate and professional Amy was taking care of her mom’s personal needs.

Amy leaves behind her son, Jaron Mayes and partner Kelsie Borror of Morgantown, and a grandson, Jalen Mayes of Clarksburg. She is also survived by her father Melvin Mayes of Clarksburg; two sisters Tracie Wood and husband Dave of Navarre FL; Cynthia Cutlip and husband Ron of Clarksburg; stepsister Lisa Nicholson and husband Donnie Marshall; many cousins, nephews, and nieces. Amy would also want to mention her Aunt Anita Rader of Chester, SC; Uncle Steve and Aunt Mary Ann Mayes of Clarksburg.

Amy was preceded in death by her beloved mother G. Kaye Mcall; stepmother Naomi Myrtle Mayes; maternal grandmother Juanita Irene McCall: paternal grandfather and grandmother John Emory and Delaine Irene Mayes.
