Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am with Father Walt Jagela and Pastor Tim Sandy presiding. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery.

John Edward Oliverio, 79, of Clarksburg, WV passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the United Hospital Center.

He was born in Clarksburg on November 4, 1943, a son of the late Samuel L. and Virginia L. Minard Oliverio.

John married his wife of 22 years, Sara J. Estlack Oliverio, who preceded him in death on October 30, 2019.

Surviving are one son, Jon-Michael Oliverio and wife Susan of North Carolina; three daughters, Bianca Oliverio of Clarksburg, Tia Davis and husband Jim of South Carolina, and Alicia Cruz and husband Chris of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Jordan, McKenzie, Haley, Anna-Marie, Giada, and Lily; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Max, Beau, Emerson, and Chase; one step-son, David Criss; three step-grandchildren, Davey, Kelsey and Trey; one brother, Joseph A. Oliverio of Ohio; and the mother of his four children, Veronica.

In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by one step-daughter, Sandra Wallace; and one brother, Sam R. Oliverio.

John was a 1961 graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School. He was the owner of Poppy’s Restaurant and the Superette Grocery Store, head chef at the Sheraton, and retired from Insure America as an Insurance Agent.

He loved traveling to the Carolina’s to see his children and grandchildren for special events and holiday’s and spending the cold West Virginia winters in Florida with his older brother, Joe.
