In Keeping with his wishes, Bryan will be cremated. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, March 5, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, with a memorial service to conclude the gathering at 4:00 pm.

Bryan Keith Gorby, age 51, formerly of Stonewood, passed away Monday, February 29th, 2016. He was born in Fairmont on October 6th, 1964, a son of Kenneth L. “Sarge” Gorby and his wife Nancy of Stonewood, and Betty L. Long and her husband Donald of Georgia.

Also surviving are his daughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Gorby, and his brother, Dr. Bruce Gorby of Elkins along with several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Bryan was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School, Class of 1982. He received his Board of Regents degree from WVU of Parkersburg. He was formerly employed at the Lakin Correctional Center in West Columbia, West Virginia, as well as the Saint Marys Correctional Center in St. Marys, West Virginia.

Bryan was most proud of his service in the United States Army. He was a Paratrooper in the 187th Airborne Infantry, an expert rifleman, and received his Parachute Badge, Expert Badge with M16 Rifle Bar, and Expert Badge with Hand Grenade. He served his country for 7 years having been stationed in several locations including Panama and Bolivia. He also served on border patrol in New Mexico for one of his seven years of active duty. He was currently attending Horizons Church in Lost Creek.

In honoring his wishes, cremation services were held.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life at 4:00 PM to conclude visitation with Reverend Quint Pitts presiding. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown where full military honors will be accorded.
