William Sanford Brookover III, 76, of Mercer, PA passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 24, 2023, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on December 25, 1946, in Clarksburg, WV, to the late William Sanford Brookover Jr. and Helen Ruth (Hines) Brookover. William is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rebecca Louise (Brookover) Moore, and brother-in-law John C. Hart.

William is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Anne (Brookover) Hart, his daughters Samantha Lee (Brookover) and Keith McCandless, Shelly Dawn (Brookover) and Lee Simmons, and Amelia McGannon (Brookover) Taylor. He is also survived by his grandchildren Breanna Kay (Simmons) and Jazmin Olivieri, Jakob Paul and Chloe (Jograj) Simmons, Tyce Joseph Snyder, Jenna Nicole Taylor, Cecily Elizabeth Taylor, and great-grandson Myles Destin Simmons. Additionally, he leaves behind nieces and nephew.

William attended Washington Irving High School and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from Fairmont State University.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy, highlighted by his two tours in Antarctica.

Professionally, William worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at several industrial plants.

In his free time, William enjoyed various hobbies, including being a train aficionado, hiking, collecting gemstones, imparting wisdom, indulging in chocolate, and savoring coffee. He also loved to travel, go on road trips, and had a passion for corvettes.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Brookover was cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on West Virginia Day, Thursday, June 20,2024 at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home. Gathering times will be announced at a later date.
